Convince us to read the book: The narration switches were not helpful at all - especially with the fact that the book switched from first person to third person and back again.
Memorable or Forgettable: This book was memorable because of the plot twist at the end, but for some that might be a bad thing. It really surprised me, but I didn't think it was the best ending.  It cued it up for a sequel which, in my mind, the book doesn't really need.
Cover: The cover tempted me because it looked like a lot of other good fantasy books that I have read.
Age Range: 12 through 15
Quality: 3Q Readable
Popularity: 4P Broad general teen appeal
AnnotationThe blood fever swept through her country leaving all infected adults dead and all infected children marked. Adelina has only one eye and silver hair, making her a malfetto, a survivor. However, it is rumored that some malfettos have mysterious and powerful gifts, and she is one of them. She is a Young Elite.
